The Central library
which is the heart of the college was established in 1959. It is well equipped
library, centrally located with open access system and does provide right
impetus for the intellectual growth of the students, teachers, research
scholars and other around. The library is in a three storied building with 700
sq.mt. floor area.
The library has a collection of 24461 (textbooks) and
24992 (Reference and other books).The library has some special collection of
books on Gandhian thoughts, Vivekananda studies, Ambedkar studies, Human
rights, Women studies, Tribal studies, Sankardeva studies, Publication by
faculty members, College publication, award winning books etc. Apart from these
special collections the library has a good collection of encyclopedias,
dictionaries, books on competitive examinations and a good collection of
manuscripts and rare books.
The library is fully automated with Integrated Library
management system named SOUL 2.0. SOUL 2.0 is installed for automating inhouse
activities and services of the library along with barcode facility. The Online
Public Access catalogue (OPAC) is made available for library users to know the
status of availability of books and documents in the library. The library uses
Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) system for classification of books.
The library has set up an Institutional Repository (
http//: 192.168.0.100) in 2018 by using D-Space digital library software where
college publications, question paper of previous years, rare books and reports
are kept in digitized form. The repository can be accessible over library LAN
and library wifi.
The entire library complex in wifi enabled. Students can use internet facility in the digital library. The all computer systems are equipped with power back facility available through online UPS system(5 KVA). The library is an active member of INFLIBNET centre and NLIST consortia. The library offers various services to its users like automated circulation of books, Online public access catalogue(OPAC), Reprography, library orientation, book bank facility for poor and differently able students. C.C. cameras are installed inside the library for strict surveillance.

The following are a few
significant initiatives of Library Advisory Committee:
a) SOUL software(version 1.0) was
installed in 2008
b) SOUL software (version 2.0) was
installed in 2013.
c) Using Barcode technology in
circulation of books with the initiative of library Advisory committee.
d)
Library committee offered suggestions to develop a Digital library cum
repository for the college. Accordingly The library has

e) On recommendation of library
committee central library has initiated collection of rare manuscripts for the library and
preserved it scientifically.
f) Library committee offered
suggestions to the authority to 2nd floor of the library building to
increase the book stocking area. Accordingly a new reading room has been built
where a good collection of books on various competitive examinations are kept.
g) Central Library organized a
organized a workshop on Use of ICT in Library Services and its impact on user
communities in association with department of Mathematics and Statistics on
28.11.2019.
h) Central library successfully
organized an webinar on awareness programme on
“Use of online E resources” on 23.6.2020.
i) On the suggestions of library
committee, central library provides library facilities to the retired faculty
members and research scholars from other universities.
